Catching Up on Names in the News
I’ve noticed quite a few new names announced the last few days and I figured I’d provide my top-level thoughts on each.
Dunxin Financial –> Eason Technology – I’m a big fan of “Eason” as a name. Most likely it’s intentionally meant to sound like “ease on,” which conveys seamlessness, ease, and peace of mind. But it could just as easily be a founder’s name. I like that.
aiBank –> Bank NXT – I’m mixed on this one. I appreciate that it conveys a commitment to constantly adapt to what’s next. I only partially dislike the similarity to NFT.
LG B.around – I really don’t like this one much at all. I do applaud the creative use of punctuation (I’ve been known to do the same with various punctuation marks in names). But the name itself doesn’t work for me. It’s the new brand for a “battery management total solution” paired with the slogan “Be Around Your Side.” Together they’re supposed to “represent a reinforced commitment to staying close to customers, constantly monitoring various battery conditions to guarantee safer, more convenient user experiences.” I’m sorry, but this whole messaging construct mystifies me.
